Dinnington's very own 100 year old colliery band has survived 2 World Wars, the miners' strike and the resulting closure of the colliery itself but until recently their future seemed uncertain with membership falling to a low of 4. Now, with the backing of Sue Perkins and her new BBC show Band For Britain, they have rallied against all odds and been restored to their former glory. Their new album A Band For Britain is balm for the soul - including best loved classics such as the moving Jerusalem, Dvorak's Largo and well known themes such as Pirates of the Caribbean.
